Passport Stamped: Today

Today, 06/15/04, we had our passport stamped @ Chicago office at about 8.00 AM to 8:30 AM. We drove to there @ about 6:20 AM and parked my car @ a public parking lot on the side of State St ($6 for all day), went and stood in the line @ 6.40 AM. There were about 40 people were ahead of us. They let us in at 7.00 AM. After getting inside, on 2nd floor, each person gets a ticket with a number and is asked to wait in the hall.

For passport stamping, the ticket number starts with B 201. Ours were 209, 210 and 211. It was @ 8:00 AM for our turn. The I.O. asked for the approval letter, passport, all AP, one form of ID. He took our EAD and threw them into a garbage box, then he said have a sit and wait minutes. @ about 8:25 AM he asked us come in and sign at a card and also gave the right index finger printed on it. He returned our PP and said your PP had been stamped and told us that from now you can use it for traveling and working. He also said that maybe we should wait about one year to receive our plastic cards.

Anyway, the long, long waiting is over. This site has been a great help. I will continue visiting this site. Thanks everybody for sharing information and you will all get your approval soon.

Thanks so much, all my friends.
:) :p ;)

Hi, us_immigrant :

Congratulation for your cases have been approved.

About your questions.
1) You got 3 tickets for 3 of you. All the 3 were called at the same time? Or was it 3 times, may be by 3 different officers?

A: They just called one number, then we went together and met the same officer.

2) Was the officer asked you to show one form of ID or you volunteered to show an ID? What did you show for you, wife and kid? Will they insist for Drivers License? If not DL, what are the other acceptable documents for ID?
The reason why I am asking all these is, I have my address in state A for INS purpose. I live in state B and hold DL of state B. If I show my DL, the IO may notice the different addresses and he may ask that.

A: The office did not ask me to show ID. Wife and I was showed DL, Kid's was shcool ID. I think you can use any ID with photo. For your DL, I think you could explain that you have not get a chance to change it.

3) I have other ideas. I will transfer my DL to state A and then only go for stamping. But again, an intelligent officer may notice the issue date and he may question.

Probably I am thinking too much. Will you please answer my concerns.

A: Yes, you are thinking too much. For the photo ID, I think they just want to double check if the picture were the same one or not. For my kid, it is changed too much compareing the photo on her passport, which was taken 5 years gao.

Good luck!

;) :)
