A question about money

Guys, this is not related to CP, but I thought can query you since all of us will be taking enough cash with us.

Whats the best way(least expensive, risk-free, maximum possible amount) to take money to India? In case I take USD cash, is $10000 the maximum, before we got to declare?

Any experiences appreciated.

I think you should have atleast applied by now,
and get a refernce number so that you can quote that.

45 days from the date of application, about 30-35 days from the date of
faxing.

 Can you kindly be more specific about the date.
 The reason i am asking is though i have applied
 on 12/18/01, i was told on the phone that my applictaion
 was faxed to the RPO on 12/21/01 and my wifes application
 on 12/27/01. So this 45 days period is it from the date of

I think limit is $2500 per person before you have to declare from my last trip exp... a year ago

What are your travel plans, what agency did you book your flights ? What hotel are you staying(price ??) and how are you managing cash for demand drafts.Does Indian banks accepts American Express or Major US travellers cheques for DD\'s ?

Did you fill out all of the PKT4 forms or did your attorneys completed them for you.

I got confirmed for March 19th, and trying to clear mind and trying to figure out where to start. I know these are way too many Q\'s. Sorry about that !!

do we need amended I140?

Yes, i am having this name change. My comp got acquired by another
big one in Jan. Attorney filed for I-140 amendment, but havent got the
receipt nor will get it before leaving. Attorney says letter and
news clipping would be fine, but i am apprehensive. Hoping for the
best.

in T. Nagar. Taking Travellers Checks.
Attorney filled all the forms. Both me and Attorney got Appointment
letters.
 
GC Despo - Can you use US travellers cheques in banks to get DD ??

If I am correct you are going to convert USD travellers cheques to INR and then get DD\'s. I don\'t think you can use USD travellers cheques directly at Indian banks to get DD\'s.

What am I missing here ?

And also this is what I gathered so far.. You can take USD travellers cheques to Thomas Cook in India and collect INR equivalent Thomas Cook traveller\'s cheque and use it. I need to find out the if there is any limit on Travellers cheques ??

Finally, What is Hotel Rohini\'s number or any web site ??
