FBI - Name check cleared !

Surprisingly,

I just got a call from the FBI in washington. (I had called and left message with my details)

The lady was very courteous and professional and helpfull i might add and she told me that my last name check was done on Dec 29 2002 and was all set and cleared.

I asked her how often this had to be done and she said that i would have to ask USCIS (she said INS) about that.

Just want to let you all know.

How do you figure out you are under name check- does it happen when FP is done or any other stage? :confused:

Please do not call the namecheck number unless you have been specifically told by INS/Senator etc that your approval is held/delayed ONLY because your FBI name check is pending

you will ruin it for those who cases are stuck and need this info!!
 
Sundancekid,

I understand your concern but there is the argument and i have also read from other members on this forum that they DID NOT find out that thier case was pending due to a pending name check or some other errors like a submission error by USCIS ! So naturally people who are waiting 12 months+ want to confirm this and want to know if we need to take any other steps.

I got the call today @ 12:45pm from FBI, unfortunately I could not attend the phone and she left the msg, stating that my Check was cleared on 12/24/02 and they forwarded that to INS. So lets see, what is next. :)

I left them the msg I think around 2-3 weeks ago.
 
This makes sense.
Inshopes ND is 10/11 and mine is 10/15
his FBI Dates = 12/24 and mine is 12/29

so i think we can assume thatt when they send out the FP request they send out the FBI request too.

What no. did you call and what information did you give them ?? Receipt No., Alien No. SSN etc ???

Info to give is Last Name (Spell it out clearly) and A# (Alien number)

1. For me name check clear date is AFTER the fingerprint date.
2. FBI name check is a sperate independent process
 
As i have told you guys earlier that i have managed to talk to an immigration officer 10-15 times. Although it has been of no help.

But in March one of the officers told me that my FBI/Name Check was cleared in Dec-2003.

Therefore, so far nothing has helped in my case. I have gone through FP1, FP2, RFE, Senator's inquiries, expedite request.........!!!

therefore, i just don't know if this FBI/NameCheck has any relevance!!! :o
 
My last update/status is: ".... FP results recd 11/29/02...."(after my FP1). Does that mean my name check is not yet complete? :confused:
If so what do I do? :eek:

After you do your Finger Printing, the first thing that will happen is FBI security/name check.It usually takes 2 days to a few weeks. For my case, i have enquired a month after my FP and FBI told that it was cleared 2 days after my FP date :) .
The other Security check is CIA name check (i think that this is same as IBAS name check). I think this wil be done when the adjudicator opens your file for adjudication. If your name is not hit, then you are fine, otherwise your file will gather dust while waiting for CIA to get back to INS on your case :( .
The reason for having these two separate checks could be because FBI database contains only national crime data where as CIA database contains international crime/secret data.
 
I am not getting a clear picture yet: :confused:
1. After FP1 recd- Was my FBI name check done?
2. After FP2- the FBI name check will happen again? (FP2 schd 6/25)
3. The CIA name check will happen at time of adjucation? How will I know if it is done/stuck?

1. Yes
2. Each time you do a FP, the FBI check will be repeated.
3. You will know only if the IIO tells you when you call then to make a status enquiry. Some IIO's tell it and some don't.
