Hello all,
I applied for GC as spouse of US Citizen. We had our USCIS Interview last year, and everything was cleared ok. I am now waiting for the FBI Name Check to be completed.
I also switched jobs, and my new job is 50 miles from my present address. Hence I spend about 4 hours in my car everyday (commuting to and from my job). To save this time, I want to buy another house near my new job.
HOWEVER, my lawyer says that if I change my address at this point of time, then USCIS will abort my case and NOT give me the final GC approval. He says that it is not advisable to submit “Change Of Address” form while waiting for FBI Name Check clearance.
Since the FBI Name Check usually takes upto 2 years’ time, I feel I will be wasting 4 hours in my car each day for the next 18 months or more. I was wondering if anyone else was in the same position ? Has anyone here changed their address AFTER their USCIS Interview, submitted their Change of Address form, and still recevied the final GC successfully ? Please share your experiences!
