Father Naturalized when I was 16. Now I'm 22 and I have no documents.

Any updates? Did you speak to the Port Authority on Monday?
I am not ready to create a big hoopla by hiring a lawyer to investigate this new policy. I am not an activist, I just don't want to lose my job with Air France.
While I agree that it is better to attempt to initially resolve it without a lawyer, you shouldn't be so afraid of using a lawyer if they won't cooperate. When they see that you have a lawyer on your side, they will be very careful about making sure their dealings with you are compliant with the law and it becomes less likely that you will be dismissed for frivolous reasons. But of course, you don't want to directly threaten to sue them, you only need a letter from the lawyer to explain to them your position and the laws and precedents behind it.

no updates. I am sorely upset that I have postponed it, i've been putting a lot of overtime in, and its tough to wake up two hours earlier to go. I have put it if off until this monday, realizing I should not put it off any later.

*edit: if anyone wants to arm me with any info, I would surely appreciate it and let you know if I used it. Including, do I actually need any certificate, or is my passport enough to justify my citizenship status? Does it matter that the same department (dept. of homeland security) issues the certificates and passports? (i think immigration was absorbed by DHS.)

just to close this up.
Port Authority reversed their decision, and allowed me to get my ID with just a passport and social security card.
I did not ever get a chance to speak with them.
As far as I know, naturalized citizens are the only ones being hassled for their certificate.

hometownhero,

Thanks for bringing closure to this thread. I am glad at the end things have worked in your favor and the port authority realized that there is a group of citizens who have never received a certificate because they derived automatic citizenship, or whatever their motivation has been to revert their position. On the other hand you might consider applying for a certificate, now that you know they exist ;)
