My 3rd ead is expiring on DEC.15, 2004
pls help me to understand getting EAD ASAP....last time I got it by mail in 3.5 months......some says e-EAD is faster....??

pls help

paper EAD is better. eEAD is slower (based on experiences of people). I have filed eEAD on 6/15/04 and it is still pending where as my I485 is approved on 7/29.

Paper EAD renewal approved in 11 days

I filed my paper on EAD on Aug 2, 2004 and got the approval email from USCIS today.

bad experience with e-EAD

lovensing,

it took 5 months and the congressman office to step in for my e-EAD to get approval. No Rfe or anything was raised.
You anyway have to send supporting documents to them after e-EAD, which looks like they take forever to match it up with the e-filed documents.

Apply minimum of 90 days before your current EAD expires, this way you can get an i-EAD if the approval does not come through.

c_rahul, I haven't recieved the EAD card yet

Got the approval info from the online status.
Will post validity of the EAD once I get the card in the mail.

My EAD renewal info:
VSC, paper file.
EAD RD 7/21/04
EAD AD 8/10/04
Only took 3 weeks!!!

You might have enough time.

Besides, I just got the card.
However, They stole 3 months from me.
My 1st EAD card is expired on Nov 2004.
My new card is exipired on Aug 2005.
Hopefully, I don't need another EAD card.

Good Luck.

Congrats for the quick EAD (at least you have another year of work auth) but did this trigger any kind of processing in your case? Eg have you received your FP2 notice yet?

I am in the same boat with my ND/RD close to yours but waiting to get FP2 and wishing that this is my last EAD, ever.

Hi! Guys: One question for you. If I apply for EAD, what kind of visa status does my wife need to apply? EAD? How about my son? EAD?IC

immigrationcom,

Applying for EAD is different from using EAD. You may apply and get an EAD but never use it, which means that you will have other valid visas like H1/L1

If, the primary applicant uses EAD, the H1 for priamary and H4 for dependents is automatically invalidated. Once this happens primary and dependents become adjustees, meaning waiting for 485 to get approved when you become a LPR.

So, if you use (not just apply) EAD and you are primary applicant all members who are included in your application will be adjustees or I-485 pending applicants which is a legal status.

Hope I have answered your question

Thanks sgi: My 140 was approved and 485 is in pending. So, if I apply for EAD, I don't need to apply for anything for my wife and son, right? Many thanks again. IC
