Hello folks,

I would like to thank everyone for the wealth of information on this forum. Special thanks to ari4u for answering some specific questions.

We had our interview in Detroit today. Had to wait a little over an hour before we were called in. Very pleasant experience. The officer was very nice and just asked us "to the point" questions and cracked a joke every now and then. There were a few questions to follow up the fact that we live in different cities because of our work situation.

I provided our joint financial documents and that was good enough. Everything was approved but she said they can't mail the GC because the name check is still pending. So, I will be working on my EAD till the time the GC is not mailed.

My 2 cents - Theres nothing to worry if you have nothing to hide. In my case, even though we dont live together at present, the office never doubted our intentions. I personally think that if you are not saying the truth, there is always some hesitation in the way you speak and present yourself and they are experienced enough to pick up on that.

Good luck to everyone and thanks again.

Thank you for your posting! My husband and I go for his interview in Detroit this Thursday 9/14. We're hoping his name check has cleared! Was the office at 333 Mt. Elliot easy to find? Any advice? Thanks again and congratulations! I hope your name check clears quickly! :)

You can't miss it, its on East Jefferson, I have to go to the Info station across from the Parking lot on Monday for my Infopass (Mail problems).

Good luck.

Approved!?

After waiting 3 hours, we were taken back for our interview. It was a very unpleasant experience and we were dismissed with no answer. My husband was given his passport back with his original I-94 still in it. The officer escorted us out saying we'll receive a decision when it is made. Last night at 11:00pm I checked our online status out of curiousity and got the following messages...

Application Type: I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status:

This case has been approved. On September 14, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On September 14, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours.

So I think that means we're approved. :)

Oh, that is nothing unpleasant about this. You should be delighted that you got your spouse GC approved. You should receive the plastic in about 3 weeks.
