Hi,

I'm from Japan and ive been married to my service husband for 8 years. We have 3 kids and this year my husband retired from the Navy. All three of my kids have dual citizenships but I have nothing. My husband decided to go ahead to Dallas first without us to find a job.

He has and we were all ready to come but since I am not a US citizen I can only come on a 90 day visa waiver and was told I can't apply for a green card if I do so.

Can anyone give me any type of advice?

Are we doomed?

He can initiate your green card process by filing I-130 now, with the desired consulate in Japan selected for question 22. About 6-12 months after he files the I-130, you'll follow up with the US consulate in Japan for some additional paperwork and an interview.

After a successful consular interview, you'll get a stamp in your passport a few days later which will allow you to enter the US as a permanent resident.

I understand that option but I am very impatient. I don't want to be seperated for that long. Is there anyway I could just come to the US on the visa waiver and have him file something?
