Family member not attending interview

My son won't be able to attend the interview with my wife and I, and will need to setup a later interview for himself. We are all doing CP at the same Consulate but it will be at different dates.

I found information about FollowingToJoin, but that seemed to be for AOS principle applicants setting up interviews for spouse/child to following doing CP.

Can any of the gurus point me to a thread or info on what the process would be for us and my son. Could this impact my wife and my chances at our interview?
