Family Leave Act: Urgent Pls

Dear All,
I am on H1B visa. Can I apply for unpaid leave under Family Leave act to cater for a sick family member and come back to my job without getting out of Status? I will appreciate your response. Thanks

If FMLA is offered to all H1B and non H1 employees of your firm and if company can support your FMLA claim in the contract and a letter, you will not lose your H1 status.
This is my opinion. It all depends on whether you work for a big company which has FMLA in their standard contract or a desi run company which exists only on paper or their home address...
 
Thanks Jaxen, I am most grateful. I work for the a large software company with over 15,000 employees and $2b in revenue. I was hired directly from school and not on contract. They allow people to on medical leave all the time, I was just wondering if H1B's are treated differently. Now I know if they allow others they will allow me. Thanks
