Hi,
all info and replies will be greatly appreciated.
My sister will attain her US citizenship in December. She is planning on petitioning for our mother to receive her green card. Any idea how long this process may take?
Secondly, after my mother receives her GC, can she petition for me, her unmarried son over 21 years age. If yes, how long does this process take?
I am going to receive an MD degree later this year...if this helps!!!

Please reply.

Hi,

It will take about 12-15 months of processing time for your mother's application. As soon as she gets her Green card, she can apply for your unmarried brother who is over 21. Your brother's case will be in 2A category. The priority date for cases in this category is November 1997, so it will take about 5-6 years for your brother to come to U.S. My case is same as yours. My father applied for my 22 year old brother in year 2002 after receivng his Green card.

Hope this helps

Whoops, it looks like you were talking about your self. Yes, a Green card holder parent can apply for their unmarried children who are over 21 years of age. So, it'll take about 5-6 years before you can come to U.S.

I think the 2A category is faster than category 4 (brother and sister of US citizen).

But what if your mother applies for you which takes 6 years and in mean time you are married and have a child?
