Fake Employer

A friend of mine and his spouse got on May 2004 I-140 approval (CSC) from a relative on a fake labor petition (he doesn't work at this place and he won't), this petition was filed for another beneficiary.
On June 2004 they filed I-765 and I-485 (CSC), on August they got EAD (both).
Does anyone know what's next??, will they get Permanent Residence (GC) without interview??, Can they be in trouble??

?

What do U mean by fake employer.
GC is for future employment. So the employer gives U employment only after U get GC. But he is free to fire U and U are free to join somewhere else too.

Ouch !

> Does anyone know what's next??,

One of 3 things.
1. Most probably a 'request for additional evidence' (RFE) regarding the I485. They might ask for pay-stubs, W2 and a letter from the employer confirming the continued job offer. This is one of their methods to make sure that people don't abuse the system in the way your friend and his unethical lawyer do.
2. If he is lucky, they approve his permanent residency without RFE. (giving the anti-immigration lobby in this country another poster-child to demonstrate what is wrong with the system).
3. If he is less lucky they transfer the case to a local office and have him come for an interview. At the interview, they will try to figure out whether he actually intends to work for the employer through similar documents as noted at #1.

> Can they be in trouble??

Not really, the worst thing that can happen is that they get arrested for immigration fraud, thrown in the county jail and deported after a removal hearing. But otherwise they are A-OK.
