Is getting engaged make the applicant ineligible for getting gc? I know you have to be unmarried till you get your gc but my question is that can applicant get engaged or not?

If you get married but do not register or do not get marriage certificate, is it okay or not permitted?

Engaged is single. You cannot marry until after getting GC and then your spouse has a 5-6 year wait for a GC. You cannot sneak him/her into your petition after the fact.

Does your fiance know that you will be living apart for this length of time unless he/she can obtain a dual intent visa? If you are petitioned by USC, marry and enter together under the married child which includes spouse.

Why would anyone want to be an unmarried married? Married is married. Why give away something when there is no legal obligation on the other person's part?
 
Okay..My girl-friend is already in the US on H1B visa..So practically, we do not have to live apart for 4-5 years..I will wait for gc to come then I will get married..

No, it wasn't a plan..I met this giri few months ago and she was already in the US at that time.

Anyways, I am getting my gc within a few months through family based petition. I will wait until then to get married...
