Hi!

My husband is dng phd in US. He has got full tution fee waiver with TA of 15000$ per year. My F2 got rejected today under 212(A)(4). Because i was not not able to show the required financial documents.

Can anyone please tell me wat are de sufficient documents?

They gave me a form stating that i can submit de relevant doc. wat should i do now? should i mail my documents or fix an new appoinment?

Can any of my relatives sponser for my expenses during my stay?

In case if i get admission in de same university, can i directly apply for F1? Which is better F1 or F2?

Can you provide me answers to the following questions befor i can tell you what you should do ?

What documents did you carry with you to show your financial situation? Did you carry any financial documents (bank statement or loan etc.) in addition to the funding from the university?

What is the yearly estimate of expenses for spouse according to the university of your husband? It should be there in I-20.

yes. I took CA statement, bankstament(SB account - 2 lakhs and FD - 5 lakhs), an xerox copy of FD recipt(attested by bank maneger),Property documents. He was not interested in any of these documents.

According to I20,

The students average costs for an academic term(9 months)

1. Tution fees: $22280
2. Living Expenses: $6650
3. Expenses of dependents: $3000
4. others:$1070
Total: $33000

Means of support of student:

Funds from school (TA): $27171
Funds from other source(parents): $6000
Total: $33,171

Thanks for reply.

It seems the consul feared you would become a public charge. Seeing that your funds exceeded the costs by just $171, I would advise you to add another 2-4K to the funds if possible.

It looks like as if the consulate was not aware that you have additional funds. You should have presented additional financial documents since the amount mentioned on the I-20 is just above the minimal requirement for one year. I would suggest to get these funds added to your I-20 and then apply again.

Although your spouse is getting funds from school every year but you should prove that additional funds are available every year to cover your expenses also (this is not clear from your I-20). So it will really help if you can convince the consulate that you enough for your stay in US and not just for first year.
