F1i student go for green card or H1B

Hi, I have a questions I hope some of you might be able to help me with...

I have been accepted to a top 5 US business school. I will apply for an F1 visa and star my course this fall.

Both my parents are US citizens and have been living in the US for over 5 years. I have never applied for a family based green card.

My question is: What would be the most efficient way to obtain a green card? Could I apply 90 days after being in the US as an F1 holder? Or do I wait after I obtain a H1B following my graduation? Given that the timeline for my date to be current is greater that the length of my course, I don´t if there would be a problem obtaining an H1B visa following my graduation if I submitted an application for a family based green card three months into my MBA.

I just want to plan everything perfectly! So if anyone can guide me in the right direction... Thanks!!!
 
You need to read the USCIS website on both family and employer sponsored immigration. You are not eligible for a GC just because you move to the US with the intent to study. In fact, you can be denied a student visa because of your possible immigrant intent with your parents in the US as citizens. They should have filed for your GC at the earliest opportunity.

Your situation is such that you are very likely to have to wait until your family date becomes current or find an H1B employer to sponsor you based on your current education with the expectation that he will sponsor you for an employer sponsored GC at some point in the future. The employer option is the fastest IF (and that is a very big if) you qualify for sponsorship given the strict requirements on employers sponsoring GCs.
 
Are you married? Or at least 21 years old? If either is true, and your parents file the papers soon, it will take 6 years or more of waiting before you will be eligible to stay in the US to pursue the green card to completion. Which means that unless you plan to pursue a PhD or a series of multiple Masters degrees, your F1 status will expire years before that happens. So you'll have to leave or get another visa like H1B.

In addition, the petition they file could make it difficult for you to reenter the US with the F1 visa. So you would be stuck in the US until you complete your studies.

But there is no need for you to wait 90 days after entering with the F1 before they file the petition, if consular processing is selected.

However, with US citizen parents, the biggest problem is that you might not get the F1 visa in the first place. Especially if you are under 21. But if you are under 21, you wouldn't need an F1. Your parents could file the petition now and you'd be approved for the GC at a consulate probably by the end of this year. However you'd have to request deferred admission to the business school.
 
Plenty of options available in the student and tourist visa categories or else you can participate in Green card lottery.....either luck or talent favors.....It's in your hand to choose the right one.......

I figured the OP is probably at least 21, but I know people who graduated with their first degree at 20 (particularly in countries where the bachelors degree is 3 years instead of 4) so I brought up the question instead of assuming.
