F1 visa with a home country job

I am in the process of applying for an F1 visa for an engineering program. I currently work in El Salvador as the sales manager of a manufacturing company that regularly buys and sells products from and to the US. My company would like for me to continue working for them as a buying/selling agent in the US while I pursue my engineering studies. They would continue paying me in El Salvador. Would I be violating any immigration laws if I do that?

Legally may be not, but practically yes. Just make sure you don't get paid in the US. But then I am not a lawyer.

Students on F1 visas have very limited work opportunities. I believe what you are proposing would violate the terms of your visa even if payment were made in your home country. Speak with the international student office at the university for information about what is permissible.

Let´s forget about the job but keep the contacts

From the information gathered, I see F1 visas are indeed very limited. Let´s forget about actually getting paid, would I be violating any rules if I just keep in touch with my business contacts? After all, I do pretend to go back to my country and continue our business dealings then.
