F1 visa renewal

Hello,
I am a student doing my Ph.D in Math at a university in the United States. My F1 visa expired July 2008. I had emailed the consulate and they told me that I could stay and finish my studies and am not required to renew it unless I intend to travel outside the United States.
My I20 is valid until August 2009, by which I intend to complete my dissertation. I am currently enrolled as a dissertation student and have funding.
I am now going to be married in February 2009 in Chennai,India, which means I have to go for a visa renewal in Chennai.
Do you foresee any problems I might face ?
What documents should I carry with me ?
When would be a good time to apply for an appointment with the Consulate ?

I would really appreciate it if you can answer my queries..

I think u might need to carry the following :
1) Ur i-20
2) a letter from your university explaning that u're still a student in their department

Have u applied for an OPT?

Thanks, no, my fiance' works for a company here in the U.S...
He will still be on his OPT though... I wonder if he will have any problems if he takes 2 weeks off ???

I was wondering whats the list of documents we need to carry to consulate for F1 visa renewal? Do we've to give SEVIS Fee again?
