F1 Visa Renewal

Hi,
I am Phd student currently in the US with about 2 years to go to finish my studies. I got in as a masters candidate and finished my masters program and currently in the phd program. My visa expires in July 2005 and i was advised by my international office to renew the visa before it expires by going back to India. I have a few questions to ask of people who have experienced such a situation or know of issues/good/bad experiences in such situations.

I got married in the process and my wife currently is on a H1 in the US

1) Can they cancel an existing visa if i go there before my visa expires ?
2) Do i need to take all the preliminary documents( GRE, TOEFL etc) like we had taken initially before we came to the US ?
3) Does anyone think that now that i am married and indicating that my wife is on a H1 in the US, if this would go against a renewal ?

Currently i have options to stay and never leave the country till i finish my Phd, but, i have been concerned of emergency situations that might arise after my visa expires and if i need to go to India at a short notice.

Any suggestions with similar situations or experiences people have had with this would be really appreciated.

If I were you I'd stay until the end of PhD without leaving the country, and then if an emergency situation arises, go back to India and then apply for F-1 visa.
 
Just don't leave man, if you leave, you'll have to get another F1.

Here is a story for you --- My friend from college, his from Mainland China. He went back to China rite after 911 due to a family wedding. I told him not to leave & warning him that he might NEVER came back again.

Of course, he DIDN'T get another F1. The guy in the US embassy in Beijing told him that he simply just did not believe that my friend would return to China after school.

Till this day --- Year 2005, he is still YET to finish college.........

F1-visa extension

Hello Gurus,

My current F1-visa expires in Nov 2005, and I need to visit India in Jan 2006. I will be completing my degree in March 2006. Can I get my F1-visa extension/renewed stamped in Canada? Or do I have to get the extension only in India?
I will be getting my new I-20 from my university


The visa interview dates in India are not available until February 2006.
