F1 Visa rejected, Need Help...

Hi, this is Vandana, i have urgent question regarding F1 visa interview, please help

Dear Friends,

This is Vandana. I went for f1 visa today(06/08/2009) to chennai consulate and was rejected.

My experience

Me: I showed my I20
Visa Officer(VO): He asked me abt the US Univ.
Me: Replied
VO: How many backlogs did you have.
Me: I said 9
VO: Whats your GRE and Toefl score
Me: 924 and 80
VO: What is your father doing
ME: Sports coach
VO: What is his annual income
ME: 4 lakhs
VO: He said Sorry and rejected me appln: Rejected saying insufficient funds

More insight:
I showed about 50 lakhs of liquid cash(bank statements), 1.5 crores of property. But he did not even see those statements. My mom is working as a teacher

I20 mentions 24 USD for 2 years;

I was 6th in line and all the 5 guys before me were also rejected..

Question:
What are my chances if i try again;
should i show some other documents.
Should i show more funds. I donno please help...

If i go second time; what should i say - as of why am i here, What between now and then???

Sorry to know about ure rejection.
I feel the mistake happened when he asked what does your father do and wats his income.
You should have said he is a sports coach and additionally have few family businesses.
When you say his annual income is 4 Lacs Per annum. Even in his wildest dreams the VO would not thought you will show so much of bank balance and own a property which is valued in crores.

I am not sure if I can advice you to go for VISA One more time, but if you make up your mind to go...please see that you tell your father has other sources of income as well(you can say real estate/agriculture .....). This will make him ask the sources and then the bank balance.

At the university that I am most familiar with, your TOEFL is marginal and your GRE is unacceptable for a technical MS. What is your planned study?

Concerned4us: I applied for Managment in IS. The college accepted my application and gave an I20 .
 
Can US resident sponsor F-1 student

I am a US resident(on h1b), I am in USA for last 12years, settled comfortably with several properties and investments. Can I sponsor my neice(my sister's daughter) for F-1 visa. Can I give I-134,will that be counted as potential immigrant, will it help her visa chances or will it decrease visa chances.
Please let me know.

You are using the wrong term. Only universities "sponsor" F1 visa holder. However, she might be able to use you as financial support in the documents submitted to the university. If the school accepts such evidence of financial viability, your information will be noted in her I-20.
