Guys:

A friend of mine who has a valid F1 visa recently married a US citizen and she changed her last name to her husband's last name and it was reflected on their marriage certificate. Now she wants to change her name with the DMV/BMV and the folks there didn't allow her to do that, instead they asked her to go deal with the CIS first. She hasn't filed her I-130 and I-485 yet.

My question is which last name she should put on her i-130 and i-485 forms? The old name to match the names on her passport and visa or the new one to match the one on the marriage certificate? Thanks!

Forms ask for the current legal name and other names used. Read the instructions and use some common sense (unlike the twit at the DMV).

This thread feels like a repeat.
