F1 to J2

Hi,

I have been offered a postdoctoral position under J1 visa and will be moving to US shortly. My Husband is already in US on F1 visa. I would like to know

1. If my husband can change from F1 to J2 without leaving US?
2. How long does it takes to get EAD for J2 ?
