F1 to H4 - can we still get OPT

Hello,
If i am on a F1 Visa right now completing my masters in March 2009. Can I go back on a H4 visa (my husband is on a H1B visa) and then later on say in July 2009 could I apply for OPT?

So basically the question is that does OPT have to be applied immediately after MS graduation or can there be a gap in between (for example F1 becoming H4 and then going back to OPT).

Please help

No. Once your F-1 status ends (AOS or leaving the US without applying for OPT in F-1 status), you can not apply for OPT any more.
