Greetings.
I came to the USA in Aug 2019 on an F1 visa.
I completed my MS and got placed through a contractor. In 2023, the contractor applied for my H1-B visa, which was approved in December 2023.
However, in January 2024, I lost my job. As I couldn't find another job within the grace period, I filed my I539 for a change of status from H1B to B2 visa. My B2 visa would be valid until 24th Aug 2024.
I have applied to some of the colleges for Day 1 CPT.
I have some doubts concerning the next steps and the process.
1. My B2 visa is valid till 24th August,2024. When should I file for a B2 visa extension?
2. Should I apply for an extension of my B2 visa or just apply for a change of visa status to F1-CPT after I get admission?
3. Am I allowed to stay in the USA until there is some approval in my case?
4. If I get admission, am I allowed to start college or should I wait till I get F1 visa?
5. If I am allowed to stay in the USA until I get approval should I get a visa stamping from India for F1 visa?
6. If my extension for B2 is denied, how long do I have before I start back to India?
7. What should I do if my extension for a B2 visa is rejected but my F1 visa is accepted?
8. When I am on my F1-CPT visa, if I get a job can I work on an H1-B visa again?
