karthik_77,

Please calm down :) I can't speak to the H-1B visa because I have not been following it too closely. However, I would think that you should be able to get your H-1B approval if everything is in order. So, don't worry about it.

Unfortunately, you can't just apply for a green card whenever you want, unless you're self petitioning. In this case, your employer would need to submit the application for you, and every company has different rules and regulations when it comes to green card applications. Did you discuss this issue with your future employer during the interview?

Thanks for the reply..yesy i did speak to my employer and he is ready to process my GC when ever i want to...i am not planning on staying long with this company..i want to get my GC and move on..Thatz why i asked can i file for my GC as soon as i get confirmation number for my H1..

Thanks
karthik.

Thanks JoeF for your advise ... i am little bit cleared now...what i meant by "not planning to stay long" was if i get my EAD in 2 years then i can switch companies right ? and i guess because i have a MS(USA) and 3 yrs of work experiecnce things would speed up...Since i am totally new to this whole process can you advise me of any attorney who is good in green card processing & affordable too (i guess i have to pay for my GC)..

Thanks
karthik.
