f1 student worked off campus and paid taxes for over 3 years applying for GC

As an f1 student, i wasn't allowed to work outside of campus, which i actually did for almost 4 years by now. i got married to my fiancee that i dated well over 2 years applied for a GC and my lawyer said i should put my w2 forms in the envelopes for affidavit of support. now my question is; i pay my taxes on time, i have a good job, i have a very clean record on everything and instead of lying to a federal department despite the fact that i know irs-dhs doesn't share information, i still wanted to be honest to a federal institution as a good, moral human being, who works hard, pays his taxes, and supports the US Government. Do you think USCIS can hold me responsible for my illegal act of work over years?

If you're married to a US citizen and filing I-485, they will normally forgive the unauthorized work, but your lawyer was wrong to say you should submit your W2's for the Affidavit of Support. Your income cannot be used for the Affidavit of Support, because it is from unauthorized work.

It's not a bad idea to carry IRS tax transcripts to the interview in case they question whether you paid your taxes, but it is useless to use your income towards the Affidavit of Support.

Have you already submitted the green card paperwork?
 
yes, i already submitted my papers, i didnt claim any citizinship when i first applied for the job...i already have a sponsor for affidavit of support who is my uncle, i just additionally wanted to put my papers in...many people i know did the same thing, and none of them faced any negative consequences...one of them was actually granted a 10 year green card after the interview, and his marriage was less then 2 years...he took his passport and green card in 8 months total, im not a criminal, im just being honest. i paid my state and federal taxes and i thought it would a honest and good thing to show them the w2's and i hope im right
 
Your unauthorized work will be forgiven because you are married to a US citizen.

Be honest about this when asked in the interview.

I'm just pointing out that "too much information" doesn't help, and can sometimes work against you with USCIS. It goes in your permanent file, and USCIS can bring up questions about it years later. This particular thing likely won't be a problem, but other things could be. And it was strange for the attorney to say you should include it, given that your unauthorized work income cannot be used towards the support requirement.
