Hi,
I am currently in a school this spring(1st semester), and transferring to another school in fall, but I am not taking any classes in summer, will there be any hassles regarding my F1 status ?? please clarify my doubt.

F-1 students must be registered full-time (9 or 12 credit hours, varies from school to school) in both Fall and Spring semesters in order to maintain status. The only optional semester is the Summer semester.

However, students who BEGIN studies in the Summer Semester MUST REGISTER FOR AT LEAST 9 or 12 CREDIT HOURS (that again varies from school to school) DURING THE FIRST SUMMER SEMESTER. Students beginning Summer Semester are not eligible for a legal vacation until the next Summer Semester.

I would advise that you talk to International Students Services of your new school on this matter because different schools have different rules.

Hope this helps
