Hi,
I have been on an F1 visa since aug 2002. My visa expired in july 2007. I am currently on a CPT from school and am working as in intern. I still hold a valid I-20 and I-94 with DS (duration of status) written on it and so i am legally hold F1 visa status.
During the term from aug 2002 till date, i never had social security and medicare charges deducted from my paychecks. However, recently my paycheck had these deductions.
Could you tell me if i would be considered a non resident alien still and if i should be exempt from social security and medicare charges?
Thanks a bunch
Karuna
