Hi,
I graduated in May 2004 with an Undergraduate degree. My OPT expired on may 15th, 2005 and I received a new Form I-20 on 17th May, 2005 from Western Internation University in phoenix.
My undergraduate university transffered the SEVIS number to Western Internation University.
-- So by receiving the new Form I-20 has my status officially changed to an F1 till the date listed on the I-20?
-- Does Western Internation Unversity needs to file any paper work (Do they need to file the I-539 for me, which is the Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status) or do i need to follow up with some where to make sure that my status has officially changed?
The school official says we don't have to do anything, but i want to make sure.
-- Is there any way possible that i can get my status verified by the USCIS?
I just want to make sure that my status has changed as i know someone whos unversity screwed up and the guy was out of status for a year, and now he can not return to the country for like 10 years.
I really appreciate all your responses.
Thanks a bunch guys!
