Hi aaraena,

can you share your experience...did you go to Canada to get your F1 renewed...what questions did the Visa Officer ask, what documents did you take

is it less riskier to go 2 Canada to do the stamping??? Or F1 stamping in India is more risky than in Canada??? Plzzzzzz help!!!

Aaraena..
i don't think u need to get ur visa stamped unless and until u want to travel out of country, as long as ur i-20 is valid u r okay. and u can talk to ur advisor about it, as to how to extend ur i-20.

this is wat we were told in an international student orientation. but please do confirm with ur advisor.

Reinstatement

Please I need an advice, I'm so desperate, I can neither sleep nor eat. I came to USA on F1 visa (Miami Dade College) and I was in good standing, after my associate I did my OPT which ended on January 2, 2006. After that I wanted top go back to school, but for circunstances long to explain, I couldn't. Now I'm doing reinstatement with one school in NYC (because I moved to NY for my OPT). I got the I-20 (after convincing the advisor about my situation and my intention to go back to school). She told me to go to Canada and I'm really scared, I don't know what to do. Please, help me.
My visa in my passport is still valid until July 07, 2007, and my passport is still vaild too until 2010. I will get the new I-20, do you think I will have any problem, please give me your opinions.
Thank you so much

Hi Guys,

I am in a similar situation right now like the one you were in. I was on H1B and I have changed my status from H1B to F1. I have joined my university as a full-time student and now I need to get F1 visa stamping. I would like to know few things about F1 stamping.

• Should I go to Canada or Mexico? Which one would be quick and easy?
• Does the processing time differ from one US Consulate to other? Is there any particular US Consulate/Embassy in Canada or Mexico that I should be going to so the process is quick and easy for me?
• What documents do I need to provide to the US Consulate? Do the document requirements differ from one US Consulate to the other?
• How much time the visa stamping process would take?
• Since my status has already been changed are there still any chances of rejections? If yes, then what are my options?
• How sooner do I need to take appointment with the US Consulate? How much is the waiting period?

Your feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Ankit Patel.

In case of rejection of my F1 , Can i come back to US on my H4 (H4 is valid

Also , do we have to submit the I-539 form for change of status?or only
