Hi all again.Because of the EU numbers are going so fast this year.I am changing my process from CP to AOS. But i have a question.

I am on F1 visa still valid for 3 years. I have SSN . I got it from school. I didn't work with this SSN in anywhere. I didn't work without authurization and i didn't do any tax return. Is it going to be a problem on my interview or aplication for AOS.

You should be OK unless you worked somewhere and got paid:)
Good luck

i didn t get paid even in the school. but aren t they going to ask you if you didn t get paid why did you get the SSN

If yes, no way to say..
1. School has enough employee after you got SSN.
2. The job is not able..

Good luck

so you are saying if they asked i should say i didn t even work. i got my SSN but the job was not able after i got my SSN

I hope that is an possible answer. because to get SSN, you need to have time. Nobody wait for you. Right? (just my thinking). I hope its right.

Wht do you mean "to get SSN you need to have time"...

Even if you don't have any income, you are still suppose to file the form 8843 as an F1 student and form 1040 NR EZ. If you did that then you have taken care of your obligations. You can read http://www.istaxes.com/taxes/form-8843.html . If you are worried that you didn't file the 8843 forms, try to check with your international student center and seek their advice.

A SSN is useful to have even if you dont have a job. For example, the SSN is useful for opening accounts in banks. So they shouldn't ask you why you got a SSN without a job/getting paid. It just makes sense to have one if you're in the US.

Also, you still need to fill a tax return even if you didn't get paid throughout the year. Talk with your international student advisor to sort it out asap. Are you a college freshman? if you just started school this past August, your tax forms aren't due until next April anyway.

These were the exact reason why i get the SSN. If you wanna rent a room or start an electric service or buy a cellphone with contract. You need SSN.That s why i get this number. But i didn t do anytax return.
and i was in the language school for english preperation when i got this SSN. i gonna start to MA degree in January. I am not in that language school anymore.

So basically you did not file the tax for 2008. I think if you check with your International Student Center they will have some advice for you. Tell them you were not aware of filing tax return using form 8843 and you want to rectify this situation. Good luck

Answer From U.S. Embassy

Just for info.

I e-mailed this question to U.S. Embassy-Ankara-TURKEY. and their reply is

"Dear Mr. XXXXX,
During your visa interview, you will be required to provide some financial documents to prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in the U.S. If you have never worked in the U.S. you are not required to file income tax returns.
Sincerely,
Immigrant Visa Unit
