I am an f1 student came to usa in aug2005. I have done 3 semesters of course work until which everything was going fine. Last dec 2006 i registered for my spring2007 courses and went to india on dec 26,2006. My school spring semester started on Jan 20th. But due to some medical problems i had to post pone my arrival to USA until feb 9th 2007.By the time i came to usa i missed 3 weeks of classes and my university dropped me out of all the courses stating the reason "Non-Attendance". I tried to contact the professors and re register for the courses. The professors are willing to enroll me back but i need my advisor to sign the form to enroll me back in the course which he is not willing to do.I have also got a doctor certificate pertaining to my illness from India. And the worst part is that my school staff are not at all helpful. So as of now i havent registered for any courses. What can i do now? Please advise

dude,
no worries...I would advise to tell your school adviser that you need to enroll because of strict INS regulations. Most of them are not aware of the Impact of dropping classes on F1 students. If you are still unsuccessful at convincing them, make sure you keep your doctors note in a safe place for your records. I believe F1 students are allowed 1 semester of absence under special circumstances which include being ILL. (make sure you double check this information just in case...laws keep changing). but otherwise relax...
good luck

thanx for your reply. I know f1 students can take a break on ground of ill health. But are they permitted to stay in us being not taking any course? If so please some one let me know what is the procedure.
