I am on F1 visa and i finished my masters and started my OPT 2 months back. I am currently employed in my field of study. I need to travel to my home country on important personal work for 4 weeks. I have a valid visa, new I-20 signed recently by my international advisor at school, OPT card and i can also get a letter from my employer. Can i reenter USA on my OPT? What other documents and letters do i need to carry with me to reenter USA? What should the letter from my employer state?
Thanks

Its been almost three years now since I entered back in US on my OPT, but I can still give you some idea.

I went to India just after my graduation and before joining my job, but I had their ofer letter in my hand before I left for India.

1. Make sure you get you I-20 signed from the international student office in your school.
2. Make sure you get a letter a letter from your employer, that you are currently employed. There is no standard format for this.
3. Take your 2-3 most recent pay stubs
4. Hand over your I-94 to the immigration officer before you leave the US (sometimes they forget to take it from you)

Those are the only documents that I remember. Please check with some more recent cases.

Thanks

I might be wrong on this ...but still this is wot my friends did when they had to visit india last year( while working on OPT)

1) got the intl off signature on their I-20( NOW make sure that u have SEVIS I-20 if u dont have one)

2) take their offer letters and few pay stubs

REMEMBER U CANT LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF UR APPLN IS PENDING

As i told above I might be wrong or may not have updated info on this..the best person to contact is ur company's attorney
