I am a student. My OPT expired in July 17th and I had applied for H1 in April 20th. For the gap from July 17th to Oct 1st, I had applied for an dependent visa (H4) on June 17th.
I got my H1 approval with COS on July 16th and I got my H4 approval with COS on July 27th. I have couple questions to ask:
a) The USCIS made a mistake and gave me a H4, valid till July 2006. Can I get that changed to till Oct 1st?
b) Can I automatically change my status from H4 to H1? Or should I have to go to India for COS?
c) Can I ask USCIS to cancel the H4, as there has been a recent interim rule for extension of status for F1 who had applied for H1 by July 31st?
