I just read from some website of a lawyer which says if one was admitted to US through a non-immigrant visa, he can't use AP. Is this true? Another question is more general: as a F1 student, if i don't file I130 131, adjustment of status concurrently, I would lose my legal status and will be deported?

As far as I know, this is not true.Logically it doesn't make any sense. Who need AP? no-immigrant people who are trying to adjust their status right? So how come they can't use AP? Who else can use it? People with GC? Well they don't need one.

This is not true. I-131 is optional. You don't have to file it. You file it only if you think you are planning to travel overseas. GOOD you are checking out this information. Where do you get this kind of information. Try to search information on USCIS.gov
