F-2 Visa travel by wife when F-1 visa expired

Please help me regarding this issue

I am on an F-1 visa and valid student status. My F-1 visa expires on Jun 30 2009 but I'll still be a full-time student until completion of my course. My wife has a F-2 visa valid until 2012. She is currently in India and is planning to come back on Jul 15th 2009. Is it okay for her to enter US with a valid F-2 visa and I-20 even though my visa will expire before she comes here? or is it advisable for her to come back before my F-1 visa expires? My student status will be valid much beyond Jul 15th.

Your visa expiration date has no effect on your wife's entry as long as her visa is valid which you staes is the case. Remember visa only controls entry into the US; I-94 date controls legal stay. I suspect your visa expires long before hers because yours was stamped much earlier.

I am currently in the same situation as you wife was an year ago. I wanted to know if she cud travel outside USA with her valid F2 and ur expired F1.
My husbands F1 expired in June 2010. The expiry date on my Visa is 2014. He is currently on Opt. I want to travel to India in Nov

F2 Travel when F1 visa expired

Dear DSB,

My wife travelled to India and returned after the expiry of my F1 visa without any problem. Also now I am on OPT and she has gone to India with a new I-20 stating the fact that I am on my OPT. You should not have any problem whatsoever as long as your F-2 visa is valid
