F-2 Dependent Visa for my Wife

Hi,

I have got admission in a PhD program. I have already completed Masters from United States on F-1 Visa. I am back in my home country and will get the I-20 for PhD soon.

I got married few days back and need to know about procedures regarding the F-2 visa. Though I am aware of the general procedure and requirements but I want to get clarification regarding some specific things.

1. How long does it typically take for the F-2 visa to be processed?
2. My marraige certificate is not in English, do I need to get it translated?

A1: Probably the same time it takes for your F-1 to get processed.
A2: Well an English translate will be a wise choice. Some US consulates do accept documents in local languages, but an English translation is always the safer route to go.
