F-1 to H-1 without OPT

Hi!

I completed my MS degree in Dec 2009. I then enrolled and started in the PhD program at the same university on a new I-20.

I now have a H-1b job offer based on my MS degree. I discovered that upon starting on a new degree, the OPT of the previous degree gets canceled.

What options do I have with no MS OPT? The most feasible one seems to be that the company file for my H-1b in April 2010 and I start working when it gets approved by October 2010 while I maintain F-1 status. Is there a possibility that I can start working before Oct 2010 if the H-1b gets approved before that?

What is the advantage of Premium processing?

Premium processing just means you get an answer in 15 days and your lawyer of record is able to contact the assessing case officer directly to sort out issues.
