F-1 to AOS I-864 Question (single - no 'sponsor' - no family in US)

Hi I'm just posting a question I asked in a reply to a 2012 thread here because it's a specific scenario and applies to any F-1 DV lottery winners.

How would I fill out the I-864? I've been told not to send the AOS package without it as it's very important, but I have no US citizen sponsors and no job (I am single and am a student, F-1.) But clearly I've been living in the US and paying for my education for 2 years now. My parents cannot be a sponsor as they are not US citizens or living in the US, I cannot sponsor myself because I'm a student, no income and no tax paid. Do I get away with some friend filling out an I-134 instead?

Any thoughts and opinions are much appreciated.

EDIT: Answered already...

Explanation for not required to file a US tax return for 2011, 2010 & 2009

Hello friends,

My USC daughter has filed I-130 for her husband who is in India and he was scheduled for an interview on 9/6. My daughter is studying her final year at a college in Chicago and did not have any income and filed her I-864 (Affidavit of Support) with $0, where as I filed as joint sponsor I-864 along with my wife for my son-in-law. All our forms I-864s were accepted and he was scheduled for an interview and during the interview, he was asked for a letter from my daughter with an Explanation for not required to file a US tax return for 2011, 2010 & 2009. Do you have any idea what is this about and what is the format? They asked him to send this letter with his passport for stamping and I guess, this is holding up the process.
I request you to please help us in this regard. It has been over 10 months wait period so far!!

Regards,
Hanimi

I know you posted in the wrong thread but........

I blv it can be done as follows;

(a) ask her to write a professional sounding letter with reference to the Table 1-1 in the following 'IRS pub-17' for the relevant years saying accordingly she was not required to file (give the www links as refernce to the respective years)

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p17.pdf
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/p17--2010.pdf
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/p17--2009.pdf

(b) Go here and order a 'verification of non filing' (under #7 in it) which back up that you did not file. You may send copies with the above letter.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf

Those might take time to come by post. Just send the above letter asap and if necessary send letter from IRS also, later.

Hope this helps.

Best!
