F-1 and OPT questions

Hello,

I have a fairly complicated question...here goes. I'm currently on TN and am going to start graduate school (while working on TN). I would like to apply for a change of status when I'm halfway through my program so I can quit my job and go on F-1, but I was wondering if there was a specific amount of time you had to be on F-1 to be eligible for OPT?

And has anyone heard about this TN 3 year extension proposal???

this message said for opt f1 visa holders should have atleast 9 months to apply for opt i alreday finished 2 semesters means one year and i have done 24 credits and my program is going to be finished in dec 2010 should i apply mt opt now or no
