There is a message online on my I485 (primary applicant) that a RFE has been sent yesterday. I have been laid off yesterday but I am considered an employee until Oct 2nd.

I do not know what the RFE is about. If in the worst case, it is an EVL, what options do I have now?

Typically what is the time period given to respond to an RFE? Is it 90 days? If I find a job, say after 80 days, can I respond after that without any pay stubs just with the employment verification letter from my new employer?

Thanks you for your quick response Ginnu. But if I take up an offer with a consulting company but do not find a client yet, would that still be OK?

-------------- join the new employer with H1 transfer and they need to provide permanent job offer with same/similar skills so that you can invoke AC21. one need to have permanent job offer at the time of I-485 approval.

what is your PD? RFE can be for any missing document.
 
My PD is Nov 2001 and belong to EB2. Will a job offer letter suffice or do I have to actually join the company and send that I am currently employed?
 
Ginnu one more clarification please. If the RFE is for something other than employment verification (like say some missing document), do I still need to invoke AC21?
