hi everyone - all the great people here
I have gc since oct 2002, in July 2005 I start a new job in canada. I have more than 30 months continuency residence in US from 2002 to 2005. After I went to Canada, in every 3 months, I will go back to US just for the weekend(friday to Sunday) then I will back to canada to work. I am going to apply for citizenship next year July. My questions are: Do I have any big problems on my case? Should I file the worldwide income tax? If I file, then they will know I am working in canada. I do keep an address in U.S such as bank statement, phone bills...etc. I am planning to go back to US and live there when I apply the citizenship. Thanks for all your input!!!

Mr. Khanna, I did try to call your office, I hope you can help me.

You must file tax returns with IRS every year, or you will have a problem with your application. Whether you report overseas income is really a question for a tax accountant - just remember you are claiming US residency, so I expect that means you need to report everything.

Mr Khanna is the only person apart from a good accountant who can guide you through....

BoatBod is right.

When you say you work in Canada. Do you mean that you are working
for a U.S. firm that placed you in Canada on assignment. Or do you mean
that you are working for a Canadian firm?

Unless, you've filed your tax returns every year, for the last five years
I doubt you could apply now.

First, for last year tax, I worked half of the year in US, half in Canada, I did file all the income tax. I work for a canadian company. But the problems is next year income tax. I have no income from US. But I do have income from canada. How can I file my tax? Do I have to file worldwide income tax? You all know on the citizenship interview, they will ask the past 3 to 4 years tax transcript. So what can I do?? Do I have to find a US company base in canada so that I will not have any problems?? thanks for all your help
