hi everyone - all the great people here
I have gc since oct 2002, in July 2005 I start a new job in canada.(this is a canadian company) I have more than 30 months continuency residence in US from 2002 to 2005. After I went to Canada, in every 3 months, I will go back to US just for the weekend(friday to Sunday) then I will back to canada to work. I am going to apply for citizenship next year July. My questions are: Do I have any big problems on my case? Next year when I file my income tax, I don't have income from US, Should I file the worldwide income tax? If I file, then they will know I am working in canada. Do I have to find a US company that base in canada so that I don't have any problems for tax? My canadian company have office in US, if the company deposit my salary to the US bank, do you think it will help?  I do keep an address in U.S such as bank statement, phone bills...etc. I am planning to go back to US and live there when I apply the citizenship. Thanks for all your input!!!

Tax : yes, as a LPR, you have to declare your worldwide income, and file as resident ( forms 1040, 1040EZ...), but never the NR forms .
It doesn't necessarily mean you will have to pay taxes on it ( deductions and exemptions ), but you must declare it.

Are you going to keep a US residence ?

Yes, maintaining your bank accounts in the US, active US credit cards ( where will your car be registered ? ), and being paid in USD in US account always helps.
Also, the location of family members help : if your spouse was still living in the US, they would understand it's a tempoaray assignment, and you have strong ties to the US.

How long do you plan to work and live in Canada ?
Absences of less than 6m do not break the continuous residency. For stays longer than one year, you will break it.
Between 6m and 12m, the burden is on you to prove you did not break it.

Unfortunately, you will only know for sure when you'll go for your interview ( IO's call ).

Thanks, it is great help. Of course I am going to apply for US citizenship next year. I will be back to US next year around July. I am going to stay till I got my citizenship when I apply it. Now I travel in and out US quiet often in every 2 months, I dont have the REP. Do you think I should have one.
