I would be glad, if someone can reply to the following, as I sure, many of you have been thru this process.

I am planning to bring my mother, who has 10yr multiple entry Visitor's visa:

1. If I need to extend her stay beyond permitted 6 months, how early do I need to apply for her extension.

2. What if the request for extension is denied, does this put her
in a illegal situation and jeopardise her reentry next time.

3. What reasons needs to mentioned.

4. Do I need to hire a lawyer for this.

5. Please advise airlines, that give a 1 year validity ticket.

Thanks,
RTN

1) you have to apply in 90 days before her visa expires.
2)if her request is denied she will have to leave the US asap, if she overstays more than 180 days she will have an 3 years interdictions and if she overstays more than 360 days , 10 years bar.
3) you can mention that her physical condition is not very good and that you want to look over her a little longer.
4) you can ask for an advice, a legal consultation only.
