Extension of stay on visit visa.
Guys, Need some advice on the following.

My mother who is 60+ got mulitple entry Visit visa for 10 years.
she came in US in Sep 2003 and As per her I-94 she completes 6 months in Mar 2004. If I want to extend her stay for another 6 months. How can I do ? and what is the procedure ?

If I do so, will she have any problem while entering US again ? anyways she does not need to go to consultate for stamping again, since the visa is valid till 10 years.

Thanx...

Sky_Drow,

You need to fill out form I-539 with a letter explaining why she wants the extension, how is she supporting herself and proofs (eg. return air ticket, etc.) that she will not stay beyond the period she's requesting. A check of $140 and the original I-94 are also required to be sent along with the form.

The instruction on the form is quite clear on what you should do. Ignore the incorrect fee amount there.

I would suggest filing it as soon as you can. From both my friend and my own experience, they are taking longer than the 60 to 90 days they noted on the receipt to process.

mcpost,

Thanx for valuable suggestions. I will take a look at the form.
