Extension of finger printing date

I got a letter last week asking me to appear for FP next week. I am not going to be home for next two weeks and would like to extend the date.

Has anybody done it ? If so, please advice.

The letter informs me to appear of fill the bottom part if I cannot make it. Failure to do either will imply that I am abandoning the petition. So I have to act fast. Maybe in a day or two.

I think you could re-schedule the FP date, you need to call the service center for that and request a re-schedule for a later date.

However keep in mind that rescheduling might delay your GC process a bit. This is stated in the FP notice letter.
 
Any idea how long the delay may be. Is this is days or weeks or months. I have waited so many years that weeks dont matter.

Also what reason should I be giving ? Can I say that I am on temporary assignment at a clients or will that go against my labor where I am just an ordinary software guy.

From what i have heard/read the delay could be for a few months.
My sincere suggestion to you is try to do it on the day they asked you to.

If you really cant then i think you could extend it and the reason must not matter. you could tell them you are not in town that day or something like that.

Has anyone called the NSC number requesting a rescheduling of FP and been succesfully able to do that..??

I am looking for a way to reschedule my FP for 4-5 months period as I am going to be out of the country. Anyone who have experience with a similar situation, please pitch in with your guidance...

I tried to but no luck. NSC does not do rescheduling. Only option is to send your appointment letter back with a good explanation and wait for the next day they can schedule.

I would suggest to get this over with and plan your vacation later.
 
Mine friend is in similar situation. Hi first FP is in 2nd week of may but he is not yet married and wants to postpone the process.

For how many months can he reschedule? Please Advise ASAP.

excuse me, If it is wrong place...

I got FP notice yesterday for me and my wife. This is our first FP scheduled on 05/07/2004.

Unfortunately, My wife is in INDIA because of family emergency. She is unable to come for the FP.

1. Can I reschedule? If yes, how long I can request?
2. Can you suggest me in regards to reschedule?
3. Is there any option to complete FP in India? If yes, what would be the procedure?
4. What would be the best options, Please help me in regards?

If you are not able to give the finger prints on the specified date, It also says that you can go ahead and give the finger prints after one week or two weeks. I think they do mention a final date also.

If one is not able to make before that final date then they can ask for a reschedule.

Some local INS centers are allowing to do fingerprints before the specified date also as per the postings on this site.
 
I thought the notice mentions that if you are not able to make it on the particular day you can go in a particular day of the week as long as it is in the next 2-3 months.

let us know your experience.
 
80 days

I heard from my lawyer that u can reschedule upto 80 days from notice date. But I am not sure.

My 2nd finger print was supposed to be on Feb 6th, but because of late mail, I got the mail a week or 2 later.

I send it for rescheduling and got the new date after 2 weeks. But the new date was April 7th.

Though I missed 2 months, its good that u can reschedule.
