I am currently in the US on a 6 months B2 Visa which expires early January 07. I just learned that I won't be able to start university in Feburary as my course only starts in September. So I would like to stay about 8 weeks longer in the US to do some more travelling. I am planning on requesting an extension of my B2 Visa - but since it is already late November I am unlikely to recieve an answer before my visa expires.
Am I legally in the country if I have filed for an extension but my original visa has already expried?
