Hi,
My PR visa ( Family based; My spouse has GC )
expires on Sep 12th 2003. My 485 is pending in US.
I am a little skeptic asto whether the immigration officers might
pose any problem when I try to land in Windsor - Detroit border.

Can i extend this visa for another year. If I get my US greencard,
then I don't want to pursue this. Thanks for your help.

--------- I have read a post in the past that a Canadian Immigration officer( Lady) created problem for some one in the past at Windsor - Detroit border, legally you can be out of Canada for 3 years after landing, if you meet that lady you have to argue with her and note down her ID or say you don’t work in US and you are going to stay in Canada ( take out I-94 from passport and keep it with you before you face that lady) or enter through other border post to avoid the particular lady, you can read the other post in thread

---- NO

--- You know when your spouse or you filed I-485 and depends on the service center, that you have to decide, if you want to land in Canada for IT job forget it.

i don't know if you qualify for it and what exactly are the requirements but often times people do apply for returning resident permit which allows you to stay out of the country for a few yrs. usual cases are medical emergency, education abroad or related things.
