Extending FP date question

Just got my mother's FP notice for early January (filed to lockbox on Dec1st).
We're leaving for the holidays and will be back 4 days after the FP date.
Is it sensible to extend the date? Not sure when they'd offer the next FP date. Or should I come back early and ensure that the FPs are done on that date. Help.

We also extended the FP. For us it was simple, just went to Local INS office and FP lady just manually put the new date on our FP appointment letter and we got the same letter in mail couple of weeks later.

Go to the ASC on a Wednesday before you leave for holidays. Explain the situation to them. They may take the prints that day itself.

I agree with Triple. Try to get it done early and if they will not allow you try and get it extended.
