Hi, I was wondering if my I-485 process would be affected if I leave the country for an extended period of time like 6-9 months. My I485 is currently pending at NSC. PD: Dec 02, EB2. My FP is done, EAD and Advance Parole are in hand and expire in October this year. My H1 status is also current till next year. So please let me know if there would be any drastic consequences on my GC process. My husband is a dependent on this process and he has his Fp, EAD and ADv Parole too. Looking forward to any suggestions/experience from any of you... Thanks, Usha

Hello Usha,

Can you pls check your AP and let me know whether it says I-512 or I-512L because there are new clauses in the new form I-512L.

Thanks,

you need to return to the US before AP expires.

Yes that is known but does your absence from US stops your GC process and what if your PD becomes current during your absence?

I think that you have to return before the AP expire , and check all the time with your lawyer about your status !!! Also you can check online the status during your stay , but take care with this prolonged stay , because it can affect your case really hard !!! Make sure that everything it's Ok before you leave this country !!!
