Expired EAD but valid H1-B

Hi,

My H1 is going to expire on Feb 2006 and my earlier EAD which was applied along my 485 was expired some time in jan 2005.I have never used EAD but continued my stay on H1B. Now it is the time to get my EAD renewed. Could anyone tell me if this EAD will be considered as a new one or the renewal.
